Some fans also believe thatFinal Fantasy 14could be a good game on the Nintendo Switch or its successor console, and it appears that some of the developers are at least discussing the idea of bringing the critically acclaimed MMORPG to Nintendo’s hardware.
In aninterview with Gamereactorfrom this year’s Gamescom, Yoshida was asked about various developments his team had to face recently, such as the challenges of bringingFinal Fantasy 14to Xbox Series consoles andportingFinal Fantasy 16to PC. Yoshida was also asked about any future platforms that the team is looking to bringFinal Fantasy 14to, with Yoshida responding that they are suspecting that their players really want to have the game on Nintendo’s consoles, but the concept first in foremost is to release on as many consoles as possible. Yoshida also added that the team is making progress in bringing the game to Nintendo’s consoles and to look forward to it.
Final Fantasy 14 Reportedly in Talks for Switch 2
SinceFinal Fantasy 14is a visually and technically demanding game, it seems unlikely that it will release on current Nintendo Switch hardware. However,Nintendo is already working on a Switch successor console, which will seemingly be released sometime after March 2025. Based on various reports and rumors about the hardware, it is seemingly pretty powerful, and various publishers and developers have reportedly gotten a chance to try it out.
This isn’t the first time Yoshida was asked aboutbringingFinal Fantasy 14to the Switch 2, as he was open to the possibility of bringing the game to the system. As such, it’s quite possible that Yoshida is alluding to bringingFF14for Nintendo’s future system, though this is speculation for now. Yoshida also expressed his thanks to all the players who had waited a long time forFF14to launch on the Xbox Series X/S consoles, grateful for the response they got.
