Building upon the success ofZelda: Breath of the Wild, the sequel,Tears of the Kingdom, did more than expand the world of Hyrule. Beyond new areas like the Sky Islands and The Depths, Nintendo introduced a suite of new abilities for fans to tinker with. While players could use these to further the game’s story, they also helped spawn the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, filled with creative gamers who enjoy building machines and other contraptions. Even more than a year after the game’s release, unique and memorable creations are still showcased.
One of the most recent builds on the subreddit was a boat modeled after a dolphin, created by osh-kosh-ganache. Affectionately known as “Flopper,” this aquatic vehicle was composed of in-game items, including Zonai devices. For example, a Steering Stick was attached to the underside of an overturned boat from Tenoko Island. In addition, a frost emitter was used to simulate the blow-hole on a real-life dolphin, helping sell the design. Furthermore, they even included a spinning ball on the tip of the boat using objects from the Gemimik and Wao-osShrines inTears of the Kingdom.
